How GCC Nexus built both of Fincobox's teams — an engineering team in India and a credit and sales team in the UAE.
About Fincobox
Fincobox is a UAE-based SME lending platform — the region's equivalent of what Velocity or Lendingkart are in India. They provide fast, flexible working capital loans to small and medium businesses across the UAE, solving a problem that traditional banks consistently fail to address: SMEs need credit quickly, with minimal paperwork, based on their actual business cashflows — not collateral or lengthy credit committee processes. Fincobox uses technology to underwrite SME loans in near real time, disbursing capital to businesses that would otherwise wait weeks or be turned away entirely.
The Challenge
Fincobox needed to build two completely different teams simultaneously in two geographies — and get both right. On the product and engineering side, they needed senior fintech engineers who understood the full stack of a lending platform: loan origination systems, credit scoring models, KYC and AML flows, disbursement and repayment rails, collections logic, and the compliance layer that sits across all of it. This is highly specialized work — engineers who've only built generic SaaS products would take too long to become productive on a regulated lending platform. On the business side, they needed a UAE-based team of credit analysts and business development managers with real understanding of the UAE SME credit market — how local businesses operate, what the risk signals are, and how to build relationships in the region's specific commercial landscape. Finding and hiring this talent in the UAE, without an existing team or HR infrastructure, was a major operational challenge.
India has built some of the world's most sophisticated SME lending technology. Companies like Velocity, KreditBee, Lendingkart, Capital Float, and Yubi (CredAvenue) have solved the exact problems Fincobox was building — automated underwriting, cashflow-based credit scoring, NBFC-grade compliance pipelines, and high-volume loan origination systems. Engineers from this ecosystem don't need to be taught how lending platforms work — they've already built and scaled them in production. For Fincobox, this meant the India engineering team could contribute meaningfully from week one.
What We Built
GCC Nexus built both of Fincobox's teams across two geographies — with a different scope in each. For the India engineering team, GCC Nexus handled the full stack: sourcing and vetting 10 engineers from India's top fintech lending companies, onboarding them under the GCC Nexus EOR entity, and managing all payroll, HR, and statutory compliance on an ongoing basis. The first 3 engineers were placed and operational within 6 weeks. For the UAE business team, GCC Nexus focused on hiring — sourcing and placing credit analysts with UAE SME credit market experience and business development managers with strong regional networks. Fincobox manages the UAE team's employment directly; GCC Nexus delivered the talent.
Team Composition
